The Thermacell® LIV® Smart Mosquito Repellent System creates an installed, large area of mosquito protection customized for your outdoor space. This smart system is all you need to enjoy season-long mosquito protection year-after-year. No batteries or fuel to run it, no sprays on your skin. Never think about mosquitoes again with LIV.

LIV uses a separately sold heat-activated repellent to create a highly effective, invisible, quiet, scent-free, large area zone of protection from mosquitoes. The repellers are semi-permanent and powered by low-voltage cabling connected to the hub controller. The smart hub is electrically powered and plugs into an exterior outlet.

LIV is a semi-permanent system so you can keep it installed year-round; from the hub to the cables to the repellers. All you have to do at the end of the season is remove the repellent cartridges. The system has been tested and proven to work after repeated exposure to harsh environments of heat and cold.

Each LIV repeller takes 5 minutes to warm up and another 10 minutes to form the 20-foot zone. However, you will start to experience protection during the warmup phase.

The repellers are made of high-quality die-cast aluminum. They are waterproof and weatherproof.  The graphite-colored exterior complements a variety of outdoor elements like stone and wood. LIV components are designed to withstand the elements while blending into the landscape.

By installing the system in your backyard, you may notice weathering or dirtying of repellers when exposed to lawn clippings, hard water, or other environmental factors. Simply wipe down the repellers with a damp rag or alcohol wipe.

The LIV system automatically shuts off after 6 hours of continuous use. If you still want to use it, simply turn on the system again from the button on the hub, or from the LIV+ app.

We recommend as best practice not to have uncovered food within 10 feet of a LIV repeller while in operation.

If connected to LIV+, the app shows you the approximate amount of remaining repellent. When you replace the repellent cartridge, make sure to reset the tracker on the app so that it shows you the correct amount of repellent remaining in the new cartridge. You can also do a visual check of the level of repellent liquid in the cartridge periodically to verify repellent remaining.

If not connected to the app, the repeller lights flash at varying intervals to indicate low levels of repellent.  When replacing cartridges, press and hold the hub button for 3 seconds, the LED ring around the button will blink 3 times, indicating the refill life has been reset.

The system is plugged into an exterior outlet for power. Annually, the system uses less energy than a 60w lightbulb when used for 100 hours per year.

LIV+ is the app that pairs with your LIV system – connecting you to your backyard wherever you are. Set schedules and timers, check repellent level remaining, and receive helpful reminders and notifications. You can download the LIV+ app from either the Apple App Store or from Google Play. Just search for Thermacell LIV.

LIV+ also connects your Amazon or Google smart home speakers with your LIV Smart Mosquito Repellent System. Simply search for the LIV+ skill in your device store and enable it to connect your device. Get ready to start your hands-free mosquito repellent experience.

We only collect device status and performance data from connected systems, allowing us to update software, release new features, and offer better customer service like remote diagnosis and troubleshooting.

The LIV hub can power up to five repellers at a time. If you’d like more than 5 repellers for your outdoor space, please add an additional hub to your order.

Each repeller forms a 20-foot zone of protection (a 10-foot radius in any direction from the repeller). That’s a minimum of 315 sq ft of coverage from each repeller. Our 3-repeller starter kit will cover 945 sq ft – that’s enough space to cover a deck, patio and fire pit area. Our 4-repeller starter kit will cover 1,260 square feet – that’s enough space to cover a deck, patio, fire pit area and a play space.  Our 5-repeller starter kit will cover 1,575 sq ft – that’s enough space to cover to cover a larger deck, patio, fire pit area and play space.

LIV uses a heat-activated ingredient to protect you from mosquitoes all season long. This formula and active ingredient has been evaluated for potential human, animal, and environmental exposure scenarios.  Data supporting these evaluations has been thoroughly reviewed and accepted by the US EPA and multiple regulatory agencies around the world. We advise you read the repellent product label and insert for complete precautionary statements. Please use as directed.

You can control the LIV system from your phone or manually from the Hub. We recommend that you connect the LIV system to your home WiFi. While the LIV system does not require internet to use, the connected features of scheduling, touch-free operation, and repellent level monitoring are only available by pairing to the LIV+ app.

The repellers should be mounted within 10 feet of the areas you want to protect, and no more than 20 feet from each other. We recommend placing repellers at least 12 inches from plants, shrubs, or structures to maximize protection efficacy.

LIV has many mounting accessories to support different ground types; ground stakes for mulch, dirt, and grass, hardscape bases for hard surfaces, like patios, decks, or gravel, and the standard mount can be used alone to secure the repeller into wood or other surfaces.

The repellers work best when placed at ground level.

The LIV+ app allows multiple people to have control over a system, making it easier to enjoy time in the backyard. Once the main account holder has connected their system, simply navigate to “Share Access” from the menu, and add the email address of the person you want to share access with. If you want to remove access to your system, follow the same steps to clear access from the app.
